Some of the advanced technologies incorporated into the design:
- Non-linear finite element structural analysis.
This analysis allows us to optimize the structural configuration,
thereby saving weight and avoiding structural hot spots.
- NASA composite technology. We utilized the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration's vast database of materials
testing data and experience with certain composite materials that
were incorporated into the vessel.
- VPP (Velocity Prediction Program) developed
specifically for racing multihull yachts. This program helped
us optimize the vessel's configuration by racing boats around
the world in the computer. Weather and sea state information
gained from meteorological services and other circumnavigation
races were critical inputs to the analysis. Hundreds of configuration
options were evaluated before fixing the final geometry of the
vessel.
- LED lights will save precious electrical
energy, thereby reducing the size and weight of the electrical
charging system as well as reducing the diesel fuel required
to run the generator.
